I recently moved into a new apartment complex near my office. I was excited to move here because it means that I will only have to walk about 5 minutes to get to work. My last apartment was a 30-minute drive from my office, so this will be a wonderful change. The apartment is a good size, and I am paying a reasonable rent for it. I do have one major complaint about the place. I am pretty upset about the fact that it does not currently have an HVAC system. I realized only after signing my lease that the building was under construction, and all of the apartments do not yet have air conditioners. It’s going to take about a month before they get to my apartment and have its A/C installed. Had I known this when I was looking for a new place to live, I probably would have held off for a month until all of the construction was done on this building. I know that 4 weeks is not an extremely long time, but it’s summer and warm here. It will be difficult to sleep at night for the next few weeks because I am used to having cool air blowing me through the air vent. I’m a hot natured person, so this will definitely put me outside of my comfort zone. The rental office was nice enough to offer me a small portable air conditioner to use while they get the construction done, but I don’t know if it will be as nice as an HVAC unit. My guess is that it will keep my room relatively cool but it will not be powerful enough to circulate air throughout the entire home. I hope they finish with the construction soon.
