This will be a huge improvement

I have always been happy with the location of our house.  It’s great having no neighbors and we’re surrounded by a beautiful trees, hills, and small streams.  Although our house is really old, I’ve made sure that is modern in every way.  I’ve spend a lot of time, money, and work to making everything perfect.  I’ve entirely renovated every single room in the house to be comfortable and charming.  I’ve installed new windows, put in insulation, updated the Heating and A/C system, and bought modern light fixtures.  The only feature that I am unable to improve is the condition of our well water.  We have hard water and this problem just about ruins living in the house.  The water is so corrupted with minerals such as calcium, lime, and rust, that even a water softener can’t fix it.  I’ve bought various types of water softeners that only succeed in diminishing our supply of water.  Unfortunately, the hard water results in buildup and clogs in the pipes.  It corrodes pipes and fixtures, and ruins appliances such as the dishwasher and washing machine.  In our home, a water tank only lasts around three or four years.  I gave up on a dishwasher because the dishes come out stained and cloudy.  White clothing, linens and towels end up stained a shade of orange.  The hard water even negatively impacts my family’s skin, hair and teeth.  I’ve dealt with plumbers, and we can’t come up with a way to combat such hard water.  I fight against constant clogged drains, hard water stains, clogged aerators, and frequent leaks.  The water tastes and smells truly awful. We don’t drink it, but pay for a delivery of spring water. plumbing tune-up

I don’t like dealing with dirty water

I have always love the location of my house.  I am happy to have no neighbors and to be surrounded by a large forest, rolling hills, and small streams.  My house is around two  hundred years old, but the place is modern.  I’ve put in a great deal of time, money, and effort to renovate the place.  I’ve  totally updated all of the rooms to be comfortable and match my decor.  I’ve installed Energy Star rated windows, added insulation, replaced the HVAC system, and installed new light fixtures.  The only thing that I can’t improve is the condition of the water from the well.  I deal with hard water.  The water supply just about ruins living in my lovely house.  The water is so concentrated with calcium, lime, and rust, even a water softener can’t solve the issue..  I’ve tried a whole bunch of types of water softeners that only manage to run my household out of water.  Unfortunately, the hard water causes clogs in my pipes due to the buildup of scale, corrodes fixtures, and ruins my appliances.  A water heater should last ten years, but  in my house only lasts around 2 years.  I can’t even have a dishwasher because the dishes come out looking worse than when they started.  Our white clothing, towels and linens always end up stained a shade of orange.  The hard water is even a problem for my family’s skin, hair and teeth.  I’ve gotten recommendations from plumbers, but there’s no possible way to combat such nasty water.  I am frequently have to fix clogged drains, water stains, sediment in the aerators, and leaks.  The water tastes awful and smells really bad.  We never drink it, or cook with it.  We don’t even brush our teeth with it.

My hard water is a major issue

I am so happy with the location of my house.  We have no neighbors in sight, and we’re surrounded by a lush forest, hills, and small streams.  Although the house is well over one hundred years old, it is thoroughly modern.  I’ve spent a tremendous amount of time, money, and effort to making everything just right.  I’ve entirely gutted and renovated every single room to be comfortable and appealing.  I’ve installed new windows, added insulation, upgraded the Heating and Air Conditioning system, and put in modern light fixtures.  The only thing that I can’t alter is the condition of our well water.  I have very hard water.  The water pretty much ruins the house.  The water is so concentrated with minerals such as calcium, lime, and rust, that even a water softener can’t do any good.  I’ve installed several different types of water softeners that only manage to run me short of water.  Unfortunately, the hard water causes a buildup of scale and causes clogs in our pipes, corrodes the fixtures, and wrecks appliances.  A water heating system in our house typically lasts around two years.  I don’t bother using the dishwasher because the dishes look stained and cloudy in the end.  Our white clothing items and linens have been stained an unappealing shade of orange.  The hard water even harms our family’s skin, hair and teeth.  I’ve talked with numerous plumbers, but there’s simply no way to combat such terrible water.  I deal with clogged drains, hard water stains, clogged aerators, and annoying leaks on a regular basis.  The water tastes bad and smells worse.  My family never drinks it, cooks with it, or brushes teeth with it. plumbing tune-up

Bit of a baby about AC

A classic expression is mind over matter. It means that by using the power of your mind you can actually accomplish anything and overcome any obstacle. Using the mantra associated with mind over matter, people are generally able to shut out great levels of pain. They were able to lift a car off their trapped child. People have performed some feats which almost border on super human. They are doing it because their mind believes they’re able to. So, if a woman can give birth alone, then, certainly, I should be able to overcome the heat when my A/C is broken. I am afraid to admit that I’m a baby when it comes to heat and air. During the summer calendar months, I try to stay indoors whenever possible, preferably right next to certain air vents. Me and the heat fail to get along, and even in the cold months I never operate my furnace. I can overcome the cold, but when the A/C shuts down, all I can do is sit and sweat. It’s pretty ridiculous, but if I use mind over matter maybe I will trick my body into helping to make it’s own cooling system. I’ve been working on sitting with my eyes closed and mentally focusing on what it’s like to stand in the path of the central air vent for a great HVAC system. I envision that thermostat, and the feeling of cold air all over me. It has not worked as of yet, but if I can trick my brain into making this body feel air conditioned, it’ll be the ultimate energy saving idea!

This hard water is a real problem

I am happy with the location of my house.  We have no neighbors on either side, and we’re surrounded by a large forest, hills, and small streams.  Although my house is well over a hundred years old, it is modern.  I’ve spent a great deal of time, money, and effort to ensure everything is perfect.  I’ve completely remodeled every single room to be comfortable and beautiful.  I’ve installed new windows, added insulation, updated the Heating and Air Conditioning system, and installed up-to-date light fixtures.  The only thing that I can’t improve is the condition of our well water.  I live with hard water and it just about ruins my satisfaction in the house.  The water is so contaminated with minerals such as calcium, lime, and rust, that even a water softener can’t fix it.  I’ve installed all different types of water softeners that only manage to run me out of water.  Unfortunately, the hard water leaves sediment behind and causes clogs in my pipes, corrodes my fixtures, and wrecks my appliances.  A water heater  in my house only delivers around five years of service.  I can’t even have a dishwasher because the dishes end up stained and cloudy looking.  My white clothing and linens have become stained and  turned a shade of orange.  The hard water even bothers my family’s skin, hair and teeth.  I’ve dealt with plumbers, however there’s simply no way to combat such terrible water.  I am constantly repairing obstructed drains, hard water stains, clogged aerators, and leaks.  The water even tastes and smells unpleasant.  We never drink it, cook with it, or brush our teeth with it.

Fixing up the ACs

It was once a fact that I was a handyman the town I am from. I did a lot of around the home type work, mostly, but I, also, painted, did carpentry, handled garden work, fixed small engines, and even more. Times were different back then, when a man could spend so much time working and get paid without ever being an integral part of the system. My work was hard, and my customers paid us in cash, and that was how it was in those days. As technology advanced I found there were a lot more jobs I was not experienced enough to handle. Elements involving computers and programming, like the heating and cooling systems of the modern day. I wasn’t entirely inexperienced with HVAC machinery. Consistently, I tinkered with the traditional style box air conditioners that fit inside your window sill. In fact I still have about ten of the old A/C units stored in my shed. In my way, I got fairly good at A/C repair. But that is then, and in this day and age an HVAC system seems so advanced that I would most likely not understand the  directions. New model cooling systems usually are almost completely computerized. The thermostat has extensive wiring, and usually a wifi adaptor constructed into it, as well as various automatic sensors to monitor the quality of the indoor air. These things really are an air purifier system, a carbon monoxide and smoke detector, and a heating and cooling system all together! I guess these solid old A/C units just can’t measure up to modern tools, but on the other hand, they are capable of running off a generator. I’d like to see an HVAC system make that work.

The problems of hard water

I love the location of my house, because we have no neighbors and we’re surrounded by a lovely forest, hills, and small streams.  Although my home is nearly two hundred years old, it is extremely modern.  I’ve invested a great deal of time, money, and effort to making everything perfect.  I’ve completely renovated every single room to be comfortable and attractive.  I’ve replaced windows, added insulation, upgraded the HVAC system, and installed new light fixtures.  The only thing that I can’t change is the condition of our well water.  I have hard water and it just about ruins living in the house.  The water is so overrun with minerals such as calcium, lime, and rust, that even a water softener can’t handle it.  I’ve installed several different types of water softeners that only manage to run me out of water.  Unfortunately, the hard water builds up and causes clogs in my pipes, corrodes my fixtures, and ruins my appliances.  A water heater in my house only lasts around two years.  I can’t even use a dishwasher because the dishes come out stained and cloudy looking.  All of my white clothing and linens have been stained an unattractive shade of orange.  The hard water even affects my family’s skin, hair and teeth.  I’ve consulted with plumbers, but there’s simply no way to combat such poor water.  I am constantly dealing with blocked drains, hard water stains, clogged aerators, and leaks.  The water even tastes and smells bad.  We don’t dare drink it, cook with it, or brush our teeth with it.

Child cooling

People constantly make jokes about things being a matter of life and death. In fact, I’d say a lot of the time when someone uses that phrase it isn’t a matter associated with life and death. If it truly were that serious, chances are they might say something else. But just earlier I had what really was a matter of life and death for me. It was a few weeks after the birth of my child, and my wife had arrived home from the hospital the day before. The day was brutally hot, and so of course, the air conditioner died. It didn’t just stop working or break. The central air conditioner actually let out a scream of grinding metal and then completely died. The sounds carried throughout all of the homes ducts, emerged from every air vent we had, and frightened the baby. That had been when the severity of the situation hit me, because a child that tiny and frail cannot survive an extremely hot summer day without an adequate cooling system. For grown-ups it’s uncomfortable. Heck, it might even cause heat stroke, but you do not need to have an air conditioner to survive. But such things as air quality are much more important for a newborn. I cursed myself for not having the HVAC system recently inspected. I hadn’t had an adequate A/C system inspection done in many years, but now that had to change. I found a local HVAC professional to line me up with a 12-month service plan, where the system maintenance would be done every few months.

Childhood heating device

I recall as a child the aged space heaters we use to use to warm our house up. The biggest and fastest heater was the oven being started and the door left open. This trick would always warm our house up if the space heaters couldn’t keep up. I do not know how come, but I never heard my parents complain about the energy bill during that time frame. It either must have cost a king’s ransom and no one minded, or the monopolized energy companies have raised their monthly rates to an outrageous level. There is not a chance that my parents would open that oven door to warm their property up these days. They might go broke. Plus now they also have a wonderful central heating and air conditioning product. This HVAC keeps the home now either cool or heated, whatever temperature they desire, and also the monthly energy bill is reasonable for one’s home today. Still there is something about those old days and nights. Kids today will never know how your skin sticks to a space heater when your leg mistakenly touches it. Or the danger a space heater can hold should it be tipped over while it’s hot. Today’s heaters are built for safety and if they’ve been ever tipped over, most of today’s space heaters are created to automatically shut off. I wonder how many lives would have been rescued, if heaters had that feature during my childhood. Life goes on, with each age comes innovation, but my childhood memories huddled before our oven for warmth are perfect to me.

Purchasing the latest HVAC system

My boyfriend usually makes most of the important decisions in our house.  I work a lot of long days at the hospital and I can’t always be around to help him with the decision making. I trust my boyfriend, and I know that he always makes choices based on how it will affect our family.  Last month, when our HVAC system died, and we had to call the HVAC contractor to come in and find the problem.  He made the appointment for early morning, and I was already at the hospital. I had a long day of surgery in front of me, so I was in the operating room when he called. The HVAC  supplier announced that our system was unable to be fixed, and we needed a new heating and cooling system.   After talking with the heating and cooler supplier, he tried to call me to give me the horrible news that we need a brand new HVAC system, but I wasn’t available. He looked at a lot of different systems and made his choice.  I got home that evening and I was totally amazed at the system he chose.  He had chosen a heat pump unit with a programmable control unit.  The programmable control was a cool freebie to go with the new system.  The Heating, Ventilation and AC installer, spent most of the day putting in our system, and I was so pleased.  The heat pump was energy efficient and eco-friendly.  It’s energy star ratings was terrific and I am positive that we will be able to put some money into our savings because our energy bills will go down.
