I went to the doctors the other day for a slight cold I had been struggling with. It was the dead of summer. It was bad enough that I could barely breathe through my nose because of the stuffiness. To add on to my stress and annoyance, the air conditioning was also broken down that day. Lucky for me, my appointment was right in between two people who looked like they hadn’t showered in a week. They smelled so bad, the stuffiness in my nose just about cleared out. So here I am sitting in the doctors office, glistening with sweat, not able to breathe, and trapped between two individuals who probably were growing fungus off their bodies. The secretary looked over at me with sympathetic eyes. I thought any minute could be my last. After sitting there for quite some time I finally saw an HVAC technician show up. I almost hugged him I was so happy. He briskly fixed the air conditioner and soon enough the air was being filtered. It was like instant relief. The ventilation system was probably in over drive to rid the air of the pollutants from the stinky men. The air was soon breathable and felt fresh again. After the worst 45 minutes of my life without any air conditioner, I felt very privileged to be once again breathing in air and feeling the moisture being taken out. I could not imagine living in a third world country where HVAC systems are nonexistent. Never again will I take advantage of all that my conditioner provides.
I am a person with tons of environmental allergies! I constantly have a box of tissues on hand because in the spring time I can barely go 5 min without needing one. But I am also a pet lover. I love my cats and dogs so I go through all of the allergy shots just to keep them around. This is why it is so important to me that I have the correct filter in my HVAC system. I need to make sure that it is the right size so that it works its best at keeping as much dust and debris out of the air. I like to change my filter every four months instead of every 6 just so I make sure it is catching as much pet hair as possible. I know I spend a little more than most on filters but to me it is worth it. Plus I feel like it helps my system run much better and it is not working as hard to move the air through it. All systems run more efficiently when they have clean filters in them because they aren’t forcing as much air through them. I always tell people to change them at least every 6 months just to make sure you are taking better care of your system. I always make sure to get my annual maintenance as well to make sure it is running as well as it can be. My HVAC equipment is very important to me by keeping all of my dust and debris out of my air.
Everyone should have a nice warm home every winter no matter what. I love having my HVAC to keep my house at the right temperature. However there can be some problems if you don’t keep up with your system maintenance. The most common issue is a clogged air filter. The filters are there to protect your system from large dust and debris. If you do not change your filters frequently it can cause issues like a reduce in air flow, insufficient heating, overheating, and many other problems. Your heating system deals with a lot of air which can contain small particles of debris like animal hair and general dust. Overtime these things can build up on the filter and many other moving parts of you HVAC and cause issues like your system running inefficiently, electrical issues, and also a general decrease in your air quality. The electrical problems I am referring to are issues such as igniter problems, fan motor issues, compressor problems, and many more issues can come about. It doesn’t matter if you have a gas–fired furnace, there are still parts in your heating system that are powered by electricity. Many people don’t realize the maintenance that is required with an HVAC system. However it is very important in order to keep your system running smoothly. Always make sure that your get your annual maintenance done so it will not cost you more later on in the road. You may end up having to replace your entire system and it will cost you much more than changing your filters.
There are a lot of choices when it comes to picking out an HVAC system that you feel is right for you and your family. Even if you are just having an issue with it, need your annual HVAC maintenance, or are looking into installing a new system it is always a good idea to consult with professionals before doing anything. There are also a lot of differences in the way HVAC systems distribute air around your home. An air duct system is very efficient in how it moves the air around your home. It makes it easier for your system to heat and cool your home evenly. However if air ducts are not already in your home it is either impossible to install them or it will cost you a rather large amount to do so. Air ducts are air tight tunnels that connect your heater and air conditioner to all the rooms in your home. The air ducts are separated into two different pathways; the return duct and the supply duct. The return duct pulls all of the air back in the system and the supply duct sends all of the heated or cooled air into the rooms. Each pathway has a filter near the HVAC system that needs to be changed out about every 6 months. The air filter removes dust and debris from the air to improve your indoor air quality. However, the filters will only be able to collect so much dust and debris before they are clogged and no longer take the dust out of the air. Also when your filter is clogged your HVAC can not run as efficiently as it should because it can’t pull the air in as easily. This is why you should have your air ducts cleaned annually and make sure you remember to change your filters.
